The Doll

I obtained a 20" vinyl-and-sawdust doll body the other day at an arts and crafts reuse place. This thing only cost $10. I was lured into what I now understand is an expensive hobby. That's always how they get you!

It has no arms or legs, so of course I had to obtain these. I stuffed the arms with fiber and attached the flange arms with wire. I covered the wire knot with a piece of bookbinder's tape.

The body had a couple small holes, which I am attempting to patch just with a drop of glue. If it works, then that would be great. If it doesn't, I'll use an actual patch. The tape is there for support while curing.

This is the head. I did a very little bit of painting. I tend to never do makeup, and when I do, I use very little. So this is my expectation for makeup. I know people get really detailed but I would prefer to just uuuuh not do that at this point in time.

I have put lengths of ribbon through the holes, and I'm going to sew these to the body when it's time. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm sure there's no harm in just having them be ready.

The eyes! Beautiful, but too small. I will reincorporate the small eyes into a garment at some point. "It will look cool when it's done" they say. Still, now I'm waiting on replacement eyes. In the middle of the night I woke up to contact the seller to actually bump up the size a notch. The ones in the image are 10mm. I put in an order for 12mm. And I'm like, "Wait, this won't work either." The hole is hard to measure but I think it's 13mm. The 14mm size is what I need, I'm assuming. I am also having them increase the iris size by a millimeter. These LOOK cool but they aren't right. The replacements will be the same color. I just have to wait.

That's about as far as I've gotten with this project. I will update when I have more.
